A traffic advisory has been issued regarding temporary street closures in the downtown area, scheduled for Friday, October 30. The closures are necessary to facilitate the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office annual Spooktacular Block Party, impacting several downtown streets for approximately five hours in the evening.

The affected routes will be closed from approximately 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on the designated Friday. Residents and visitors planning to travel through or access the downtown area during these hours should be aware of the temporary changes to traffic flow. The advisory specifically details the sections of three main downtown streets that will be inaccessible.

Court Avenue will experience a significant closure, extending from just north of Joy Street to a point just south of the public parking lot near Main Street. The starting point for this closure, just north of Joy Street, is described as being near the entrance to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) parking lot, providing a clear reference for motorists. The closure on Court Avenue will encompass this stretch of roadway, requiring drivers to seek alternative paths around the impacted area during the event's duration.

In addition to Court Avenue, West Bruce Street will also be temporarily closed to traffic. This closure on West Bruce Street will extend from an area just east of the Sevier County Courthouse parking lot entrance, continuing up to Court Avenue. This specific segment of West Bruce Street will be unavailable, affecting access and transit in that immediate vicinity for the specified time.

Furthermore, Bruce Street, a separate but related downtown thoroughfare, is included in the temporary traffic modifications. The closure on Bruce Street will begin at Court Avenue and proceed to the Municipal Parking Lot exit. This segment of Bruce Street will be closed off, completing the network of downtown streets impacted by the special event.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office states that these temporary closures are being implemented directly to facilitate their annual Spooktacular Block Party. The event requires the use of these downtown streets, making the closures essential for the safety and execution of the activities planned. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly for Friday, October 30, between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., to navigate the downtown area effectively. The advisory emphasizes the need for awareness of these traffic adjustments due to the special event.
