Sevierville is set to experience several traffic adjustments this week, including a multi-day road closure for utility upgrades and temporary lane closures for a special event. Additionally, the King Family Library continues to offer a creative outlet for local teens.
From Tuesday, October 27, through Friday, October 30, Robert Henderson Road in Sevierville will be closed to thru traffic daily between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The affected segment of the road lies between Eastgate Road and Dolly Parton Parkway. This closure is necessary to allow the Sevier County Electric System to conduct essential system upgrade work in the area. While general thru traffic will be diverted, limited access will be maintained for residents and businesses situated along the closed portion of Robert Henderson Road. Motorists who typically use this route during the specified hours are advised to plan alternative paths to avoid delays and ensure the smooth flow of traffic around the construction zone. The utility work is a critical component of the ongoing maintenance and improvement efforts by the Sevier County Electric System to enhance the local electrical infrastructure.
A separate traffic advisory has been issued for temporary lane closures on portions of the Parkway and Collier Drive on Saturday, October 31. These specific closures are scheduled to be in effect from approximately 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and are being implemented to facilitate the NASCAR SpeedPark Color Me Mutt 5k road race special event. The affected lanes include the Parkway northbound right travel lane, stretching from New Era Road to Collier Drive. On Collier Drive, the eastbound right lane will be closed from the Parkway to Ridge Road. Furthermore, the New Era Road westbound right travel lane will be temporarily closed from the entrance of NASCAR SpeedPark to the Parkway. Drivers in these areas should anticipate minor, short-term traffic delays during the event. It is recommended that motorists exercise caution, follow all posted signage, and be aware of runners and event staff present on or near the roadways during the designated time frame to ensure the safety of all participants and the public.
