The City of Sevierville Public Works Department has announced that its annual leaf collection season will commence on October 19. The service is scheduled to continue through mid-January 2027, providing Sevierville residents with two primary methods for disposing of leaves.

Residents have the option to bag their leaves. Bagged leaves, along with other bagged yard waste, will be collected bi-weekly as part of the city's regular bulk rubbish/junk collection schedule. To arrange for this service, residents may contact the Public Works Department at 865-429-4567 to request a work order, or they can simply place their bagged waste at the curbside. The department has specified that no special pickups will be made for bagged leaves.

The second alternative involves the Public Works Department's efforts to vacuum loose leaves directly from neighborhoods. The department aims to be in each neighborhood every two weeks to collect these leaves. For this operation, the City of Sevierville has been divided into three distinct sections. Crews will complete a full sweep of all sections before initiating another round, maintaining this systematic approach throughout the entire collection season.

The Public Works Department has noted that while every effort will be made to adhere to the bi-weekly schedule for loose leaf collection, residents should be aware that pickup times may be extended during peak periods or in instances of equipment breakdown. Similar to the bagged collection service, no special pickups will be made for loose leaves.

Residents choosing the loose leaf collection method are required to adhere to specific preparation guidelines. Leaves must be raked into rows that do not exceed three feet in width. It is crucial for residents not to park vehicles in front of leaf piles, as any piles obstructed by vehicles will not be collected until the service truck's subsequent scheduled return to the area, provided the obstruction has been cleared.

Furthermore, all limbs, rocks, and other debris must be removed from leaf piles. Piles found to be mixed with other materials will not be collected. Such piles will only be serviced when the collection truck returns to the area as scheduled, and the non-leaf materials have been properly separated.

For any questions regarding the leaf collection program, its schedule, or specific procedures, residents are encouraged to contact the Public Works Department directly at 865-429-4567.
