The City of Sevierville Public Works Department has announced the commencement of its leaf collection season, which is set to begin on October 19. This service for residents is scheduled to run through mid-January 2027, providing a process for managing fallen leaves throughout the autumn and early winter months. Residents of Sevierville are offered two distinct methods for leaf disposal, each with specific guidelines to ensure collection.

The Public Works Department will collect bagged leaves as part of its bi-weekly bulk rubbish and junk collection schedule. Along with other bagged yard waste, residents have the option to either request a work order by calling the department at 865-429-4567 or place their bagged leaves at the curb for pickup. The department states that "NO SPECIAL PICKUPS WILL BE MADE" for bagged waste, indicating adherence to the established bi-weekly schedule.

For those preferring to dispose of loose leaves, the Public Works Department will deploy vacuum trucks across the city. Crews will make every effort to be in neighborhoods every two weeks to vacuum loose leaf piles. The City has been divided into three sections to manage this process. Once collection crews complete a full sweep of the City, they will start over and make another complete sweep. This method of collection will be used throughout the leaf collection season. However, the department cautions that during peak periods or in the event of equipment breakdown, pickup may take longer. Similar to bagged collections, the department has confirmed that "NO SPECIAL PICKUPS WILL BE MADE" for loose leaves, reinforcing the need for residents to utilize the scheduled route-based service.

To facilitate the efficient collection of loose leaves, residents are advised to follow specific guidelines. Leaves should be raked into rows no more than three feet wide. This width limit helps ensure the collection equipment can effectively process the leaves. Furthermore, residents must ensure that vehicles are not parked in front of leaf piles. Leaf piles that are blocked will not be collected until the service truck returns to the area as scheduled and the leaf piles are no longer blocked.

Additionally, it is crucial that leaf piles intended for vacuum collection are free of other materials. Limbs, rocks, and other debris must be removed from leaf piles. Piles found to be mixed with other materials will not be collected. Similar to blocked piles, these will only be processed when the service truck makes its subsequent scheduled return to the area, assuming the resident has separated the leaves from the prohibited materials by that time.

Residents with any questions or requiring further clarification regarding the leaf collection process are encouraged to contact the Public Works Department directly. The department can be reached by phone at 865-429-4567.
